Blue Sky Noise Review

After almost 3 years of waiting, finally Circa Survive released their brand new album Blue Sky Noise on 20 april 2010. This is their 1st album on Atlantic, having released their previous album on Equal Vision titled Juturna and On Letting Go, when i heard the news that they have part ways with EV, i was scared and excited at the same time. Scared because of the possibilitites that they're gonna change their sound and becoming more mainstream, and excited because now that they're on major labels, exist a possibility that someone in Indonesia realize these guys potential and invite them here over than bringing stupid bands like *Cough, cobra starship, fall out boys, and many others.

Finally the waiting is over and i got the album two days ago, my 1st impression is this, what will happen when geniuses like Circa Survive attempted to make a traditional and straightforward rock album, voila you got Blue Sky Noise. While i hate the term "traditional and straightforward rock album" Blue Sky Noise is different, we know that the unique thing from Circa Survive's sound is their ability to create ambient sounds by combining the sounds of two guitar, and we can still find them in some of the songs in this album like "Frozen Creek", "Glass Arrows" or "Dyed in The Wool" yet there are some songs like "Get Out" and "I Felt Free" that contains straightforward and tradtional guitar melody, hence the term "straightforward and traditional rock album". And there's this amazing song called "Fever Dreams" which shows the ability of their amazing drummer, Steve Clifford, which opens with a fast paced, furious acoustic guitar, something that is rare by Circa Survive standards. The quality of the lyrics hasn't diminished a bit, Anthony Green still shows his ability to create cryptic, riddle-like lyrics while at the same time create easier to understand lyrics like in "Get Out" or "I Felt Free"

I have to say that i am amazed by this album, Circa Survive still retains their ability to create great music in major label, Blue Sky Noise is better than On Letting Go which i found a little bit dissapointing, although it wont be able to match Juturna, which i think is their masterpiece.

for the score, i give this album 4.5/5

Top 5 overrated things

Whew, its been ages since i last updated my blogs, the main reason is because the layout sucks and im too lazy to change it so i ask theta to do it, and she did, thanks theta haha.

As the title says, i will describe my version of the most 5 overrated things in the world, you should know upfront (yeah yeah i know this one is from 500 days of summer) that this post is subjective, so don't feel offended.

I will start it from the least to most

5. Blackberry and its clones
I know its old and nobody gave a shit about BB-bashing anymore, but to hell with it. The reason i put BB in the least most overrated things (f-up grammar i know) because BB can be useful in the right hand, but put it in the hand of 13 years old and instead you will see a zombie pushing their qwerty keypads and ignoring everyone else, well much everything else just to update their status in some social network status, which is pretty useless if you ask me, given the situation their in, which usually is not important, and the more more disturbing fact is other people who cares about the useless situation their in, its kinda like a bubonic plagues ,well more of a stupidity plague.

4. Gold Casio Databank
I dont know what's the deal with this one, i know im not much of a fashion afficionado ,but this flashy fake gold rolex wannabe is the new hottest thing around, that's something i never understand.

3. Malam minggu
I dont get it, wtf is with malam minggu, does SBY gives a free BB for people who hangout on malam minggu, nu-uh he doesn't, so why bother driving your car in the crowded street of Jakarta on malam minggu, try reading some manga, or playing some video games, it's certainly better than wasting money and driving on a crowded street hahaha

2. Curhat
The fact that some people need to talk to others about their or worse, other people problems (from the unimportant to the severe ones) to their friends (usually BFF, lol) amuses me. I mean come on, you know that all they can do is say "aww, that's too bad or im sorry for you bla bla bla" or give some useless advice that you won't use in the end after all. I know that this one is kinda disturbing for you people out there, but i can't trust other people to hold the knowledge of my problems, because you know how people are these days (esp. in Indonesia). They like to exaggerate things and most of them have the urge to pass on their knowledge of our problem into other people (even those who are not acquainted with us, and dont understand the problem at all) and so our problem evolve into stupid gossips and such.

1. Boy/Girlfriend
Loneliness is overrated - Tom Hansen-
I can't agree more with that quote over there, sometimes i wonder why people felt that they desperately need to have a bf or gf and doesn't take it easy when i said to them to. I mean, im perfectly fine when im single (altough having a gf is better haha) and doesn't waste my time chasing over a girl, and sometimes it bothers me that some people find another gf/bf so quickly after they broke up with their ex, sigh get a life people. I know that for some people, love is the thing that moves them forward, but you don't have to make that a priority, just take it easy and maybe it will eventually find you.
